Stavros Center
Building & Expansion

The USF Stavros Center's relationships with its corporate friends have resulted in funding for a variety of projects. Projects funded with corporate support include the following:

  • In May 1999, a new addition to the Stavros Center facility was dedicated at USF. The second floor of the Gus A. Stavros Center for Free Entreprise and Economic Education is a result of funds generated from the corporate community matched with a state grant. The second floor is approximately 4000 GSF and provides the Stavros Center with the capability to conduct distance learning programs via the Dan Doyle Theater. Also, the second floor houses the Center's distance learning classroom, named in honor of the Raymond James Financial Center.
  • The Stavros Center has the distinction of having the first fully funded endowed chair in the college. The Stavros Chair for Free Enterprise and Economic Education was the result of a $600,000 from Gus and Frances Stavros, with a match of $420,000 from state funds. The one million dollars plus endowment will provide funds for the chair in perpetuity.
  • In the past several years, Stavros Center programs have received corporate support from such entities as the Kellogg Foundation, Citicorp/Citibank, the Sikes Foundation, St. Petersburg Times, Time-Warner, Tampa Electric Company, R. R. Simmons Construction, and others.
  • The Coca-Cola Foundation in Atlanta, Georgia has selected the USF Stavros Center as the recipient of a gift that establishes the Coca-Cola Academy of Global Economic Education at the Center. The gift creates an endowment that will allow the USF Stavros Center to provide global economic education to area educators in perpetuity.
